The Tla-o-qui-aht Nation will officially welcome delegates to the event through ceremonial dance and a cultural exhibition. This is the first time salmon farmers have been invited by a First Nation to share their annual event.

The BC Salmon Farmers Association is developing a robust program that will provide an update on the progress of salmon farming in British Columbia as well as dialogue sessions that will feature community leaders discussing the importance of collaborative partnership in advancing resource industries such as aquaculture. Delegates remaining at the event to take part in the Friday farm tours will celebrate the day’s events with an informal dinner at the Beachfront Bistro. Dinner will be arranged by the BCSFA – beverages will be paid individually by delegates.

Delegates will have the opportunity to tour the operations of BCSFA members Cermaq Canada and Creative Salmon. Tours will be free of charge to participants and includes ground transportation from the Tin Wis resort and water transportation to/ from farming sites. Participants in the Cermaq Canada tours will also be taken through the company’s state of the art salmon processing plant.
