Surrey Fire Fighters Aim to ‘Ignite a Dream’

On the evening of April 1st, the Surrey Fire Fighters Association hosted their annual ‘Ignite a Dream’ event in an effort to raise money to provide educational opportunities for children in Surrey. Close to 400 guests attended the cocktail style event at the Semiahmoo Shopping Centre, which accommodated 60 different food, wine, and beer stations for the evening.

Spread throughout the mall, representatives from local restaurants, wineries and breweries offered tastings and shared information about their products. The spacious layout allowed attendees to leisurely enjoy the food and beverages on offer, while socializing and taking in the ambiance of the event.

BCSFA took part in the event for the third year running, hosting a chef’s table with culinary instructor, Chef Dave Ryan, and his fantastic team. The group used B.C. farm-raised salmon to create a refreshing ‘salmon cocktail’. The dish was extremely popular among guests, who kept the team on their toes by continually coming back for more.

The silent auction contained a range of generously donated items and experiences, including winery and brewery tours, luxurious gift baskets, and a Vancouver Canucks jersey signed by former player Alexandre Burrows. Guests playfully engaged in bidding for their favourite items – contributing further to the cause.

Overall the event provided guests with a relaxing and fun night out. BCSFA appreciates the opportunity to be involved in supporting the fantastic effort made by the Surrey Fire Fighters Association.
